About Rafiullah
Full Name: Rafiullah
Date of Birth: March 10, 1996
Place of Birth: Pakistan
Role: Fast Bowler
In a team that has often relied on discipline and spin to outclass its opponents, Rafiullah brings something different—pace, aggression, and left-arm variation. Wearing jersey number 91, Rafiullah represents the new age of Oman’s bowling attack, offering a dynamic dimension with his raw speed and natural swing. He may not be a long-serving veteran, but he’s fast becoming a crucial part of Oman’s cricketing blueprint.
Born in Pakistan, Rafiullah moved to Oman as a young boy and grew up in the cricketing hubs of Muscat. Like many passionate cricketers in the Gulf, he found his first taste of structured competition through local club leagues. His height, athleticism, and ability to generate bounce made him stand out early on. Coaches quickly noticed his knack for making batters uncomfortable with sharp angles and movement—a rare asset in Associate cricket.
Rafiullah made his T20I debut for Oman in 2022, and although he was relatively new to the international circuit, his energy and fearlessness immediately turned heads. He wasn't afraid to bowl short or attack the stumps, and his left-arm angle brought much-needed variety to Oman’s pace attack that had previously leaned on right-arm medium pacers.
One of his early breakout moments came during the ICC CWC League 2 matches, where he consistently delivered impactful spells, especially with the new ball. His best figures of 3/37 came against a strong Namibian side, where he broke open the top order and set the tone for Oman’s victory. His ability to strike early and also bowl at the death made him a two-phase threat—something Oman had been searching for.
What’s unique about Rafiullah is his controlled aggression. Unlike many young pacers who lose discipline in pursuit of pace, he bowls to plans, hits the right lengths, and adapts quickly to different conditions. He’s also been working on variations—cutters, slower balls, and yorkers—which have proven especially useful in T20 formats.
Off the field, Rafiullah is humble and deeply dedicated to his craft. He trains hard, listens attentively to his senior teammates like Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah, and constantly pushes himself to evolve. He understands the importance of fitness and workload management and has been praised by Oman’s coaching staff for his discipline and maturity.
He is not just a bowler with potential—he’s a bowler with purpose. As Oman eyes greater consistency on the international stage, especially in white-ball cricket, Rafiullah will be key to their ambitions. He brings a rare left-arm option that disrupts batting plans and gives Oman the kind of cutting edge needed against higher-ranked opponents.
Wearing jersey number 91, Rafiullah has already shown that he belongs on the global stage. With time, experience, and more game time, he could well become Oman’s leading fast-bowling force in years to come.
